Angels 1-6
2022, 48"x48"”, digital collage and gold leaf on Dibond panel
As we slide further in to the climate crisis the resultant weather patterns become more and more erratic and biomes become more and more fraught, it's looking like we are truly headed into a mass extinction event. In this series of work, I examine the fragile beauty of specific critters--from a Monarch Butterfly, to a green Leaf Eating Beetle, a Ruby Necked Hummingbird, a giant Tarpon fish, a Sonoran Desert Toad, and an Emperor Dragonfly.
I portray these as the innocent victims they are, replete with angel wings and golden halo coronas set against a Tiepolo mirrored sky.
I contrast the dueling effects of deadly climate gasses, like methane, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, and the role of medicinal plants, such as chamomile, peyote, echinacea, and the fir forests. I set these images against a web of sacred geometry and a network of healing mycelium, represented by the psilocybin mushroom.
This is still a work in progress.
