Heavenly Spheres: Sol, Terra & Luna, 2023, 38” x 38”, digital collage, oil and metal leaf on canvas
Sol
As a collective fantasy, in olden days the sun revolved around the earth. Here I examine the radical Copernican Hypothesis that the sun is the central orb around which our planet revolves. I also show the Large Hadron Collider, the largest machine ever built by man, which has ‘discovered’ the God Particle. How will this add to the mass delusion/fantasy that tech will save us from ourselves?

Terra
Once-upon-a-time there existed a pseudo-science called Alchemy, which inspired a mass fantasy that one could turn base metals to gold. Here I examine a fantastical alchemical classification table of the earth, in all its delusional glory. Countered with the real fantasy that we are going to solve our climate crisis without first frying our myriad plants and animals, like the bees and flowers.

Luna
Our moon used to be made of cheese. Then humans got a wild hair and raced to visit it. Now tech billionaires have a common fantasy to use our moon as a launching pad for their interstellar conquests—mining the moon for minerals, water and fuel for their rocket ships. Their delusion is to terraform cold, dead planets with no atmosphere and abandoning the only habitable planet we know of.
