The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art will be featuring one of my new images from the new "Elements 3" series: "Fire/Lust". Hope you can see it there!
This summer I traveled to all ten installation sites in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California to re-document the sites. It was exciting going back for the first time and not knowing what I'd find, and the sculptures were almost all there. Many had been discovered and left pristine; one was utterly destroyed. I documented the journey and rediscovery with a Polaroid camera, digital camera, Nikon FE film camera, video camera and iPhone camera. I'll be posting new images and videos HERE. I had the honor of being asked to speak at TEDx Napa Valley as part of their "Connection" series. I presented the work we're doing with the Values Project as a social practice art piece that is structured around working with the community to develop a set of important values that they can share by painting them in parking lots around a city. What an exciting day it was! We are rolling forward on holding group workshops and painting values words in parking lots for the Sacramento Values Project. We've held several workshops at the Sacramento Boys & Girls Club and an elementary school in which we brainstormed personal values that were meaningful for the group. The kids chose a solid list of personal values and wrote stories about them, then chalked the words in the parking lots. We are posting the photos and stories at The Values Project website linked to the button below: The Sacred Sculpture Project and Peter Hassen are the subject of a story in the current issue of the national Buddhist magazine, Tricycle.
