I’m working on a new series of photograms–a process that leaves part of an exposed photograph blank. I’m superimposing an architectural plan of a sacred building–mosque, cathedral, temple, geometric pattern, etc.–over satellite photographs of natural landscapes.
They are 16"x 26, following the golden ratio, and printed on aluminum panels.
I find it an interesting contrast between the man-made pattern order and the natural pattern order. I'm exploring how to "flatten" religions; how to reduce different religions to their most common denominator to emphasize their similarities.
